Brake Discs

From Boxster Tech

Most Boxster owners use one of two brands of discs on their cars: Porsche OEM and Zimmerman. Both are moderately priced and readily available from several places including online parts dealers. The base Boxster comes with standard discs while the S model comes with drilled rotors. Either kind can be purchase for either model.

Porsche OEM
OEM parts from Porsche are always top quality and always recommended. Your local dealer should be able to provide discs, plus there are a few Porsche dealers that actively sell parts online.

Zimmerman
Zimmerman is a well-known German brand of replacement rotors, and they are sold from many outlets both online and brick and mortar. One point to be aware of is that, unlike the Porsche OEM discs, Zimmerman rotors are uncoated steel and will rust on the 'hats' (the raised portion above the disc platter). It is a good idea to paint the hats silver before installing Zimmerman rotors to prevent this from happening. Porsche discs are already painted to prevent rust.
