MP3 Players

From Boxster Tech

There are a few different ways to play digital media using a portable MP3 player or iPod through a Boxster's stock stereo system.

There are FM modulators which broadcast a short-range signal on a predefined frequency so that it can play through the FM radio system. The quality of sound through FM modulators ranges from very poor to actually quite good, depending on the model and system and location of the modulator in the car.

Becker sells an adaptor cord for the CDR-220 (only), p/n BNA-116.276 which ends with two RCA plugs. Add on an adapter cable from Radio Shack which converts the RCA plugs to a mini phono jack and you can plug in any portable music player to your Boxster.

Porsches with the Bose MOST system (CDR 23) have no direct ability to connect an external player at this time. At the 2006 Macworld show, Dension demonstrated a prototype interface unit that played back an iPod through a MOST-connected audio system. This product could be available later in 2006

One set iPod set of instructions here. (does not use the Becker kit)

Easy installation instructions can be found here. ($2.50 reprint fee)

If you have a multi disc changer, this site can show you how to connect your MP3 player through that equipment.
